Our lil guy’s room is still in the works, but this space has come suchhh a long way + I’m semi-ready to share! I still need to: update the door hinges, install the curtains + get some throw pillows + styling things. I would also loveee to make a little reading area in the eaves, but that’s a project for another day. We made both eaves doors push-to-open for a cleaner look. I suggest eliminating a traditional doorknob from eaves doors especially if you don’t access them frequently so your furniture can sit flush to the wall.
The nursery was the first thing we tackled after moving in. Now I want every room in our home to give me the same magical, cozy feeling! One of my favorite details is the unlacquered brass door hardware we selected. The style is a little different than your typical round rosette + I love that it’s a living finish that will become deeper + richer over time.
Mini lesson on unlacquered brass: it starts off looking like polished brass; however, there is no protective coating, so the brass reacts with the elements of the home + develops a patina over time. Eventually, it will darken into a beautiful aged brass that has character + dimension. The end result of unlacquered brass is THE most timeless finish. It has been around forever!! Satin/brushed brass or polished brass could NEVER! Visual cred: Kallista.
