Today marks Ryan + I’s two-year engagement anniversary, so I thought I’d share the details on my ring I love oh-so-much. Ryan + I had gone to a few jewelry stores together over the years + he asked me all the right questions, so he had a good idea of what I wanted. The thing I was most specific about was the cut. I had been in between oval + emerald for years. Both felt unique + timeless. Ultimately, emerald felt more “me”. Ryan also knew that I wanted a skinny solitaire band in rose gold or yellow gold. I told him to surprise me. My last request was a two-tone band: I wanted the prongs to be white gold.
PSA: ladies, don’t be shy when describing your dream ring to yo mans. You’ll be wearing it everyday for the rest of your life, so you want to love it!
Ryan custom-ordered my ring from Brilliant Earth while he was on a work trip in Seattle. Several weeks later, he picked it up at their Boston storefront. He was freaking out because this was his first time physically seeing the diamond. He proposed to me that same day on the cobblestone streets outside of the place we had met almost four years earlier — a bar named Rose Alley.
I had a feeling 2019 was the year, but for some reason, I thought he might propose in late fall or winter. He totally caught me off-guard by proposing in the summer, but it was obviously the best surprise ever + I couldn’t have been happier. Although our wedding day was truly amazing + special, I think August 19th, 2019 will always be my favorite day.
