When Ryan + I moved into our first house over 2 years ago, we decided to make the smaller bedroom with the smaller closet our master bedroom. Sounds weird, right? Ryan took the small closet in our bedroom + I was using the walk-in closet in the second bedroom. The second bedroom is larger, but narrow, so it BARELY fits a queen size bed. Regardless, we decided to make the move. When it comes down to it, the smaller bedroom with the smaller closet is a better future nursery + it makes more sense for us to be in the larger room with the walk-in closet. I might stub my toe every time I walk by the foot of our bed now [I’m talking a legitimate 15″ walkway LOLLLLL], but we’re basically only in there to sleep + get dressed, so it’s DEFINITELY worth it.
We started by completely gutting our walk-in closet. When we bought the house, it only had one shelf along the top with a few rods + coat hooks, so it wasn’t even close to reaching it’s full potential. We share this closet now, so I knew I’d have to utilize every square inch. In true designer fashion, I planned it out meticulously on Chief Architect + we were off to IKEA. Fast forward a few weeks + the closet is almostttt done. When it is, I’ll be doing a full blog post on our very custom walk-in that I’m VERY excited about.
Below is the design I came up with for our master bedroom remodel. I wanted a dreamy, neutral oasis with minimal clutter + a serene, soothing vibe. Our current master has all of my old bedroom furniture from when I lived with my parents, so it doesn’t exactly give me those giddy feelings inside. THIS HOWEVER…….
We already had the greige blackout curtains, which I LOVEEEE + are SO affordable. We also had the black curtain hardware, brass round mirror + antique floor mirror. Everything else will be new. The only thing we’ve actually ordered so far is the bed. I knew from the start that I wanted a cream, winged upholstered bed + I had my eye on this one for months. It arrived a couple weeks ago + I’m already in love. Everything will be linked below!!
Another thing I knew for sure was that I wanted black nightstands, a vintage-feel neutral area rug + furniture with clean lines. I wanted one tall + one short dresser. I was so excited to find these beauties [gray for Ryan, light wash for me]. I also knew I wanted white bedding with lotsssss of decorative pillows + a comfy throw. All of these pillow covers are from Etsy. I’m SO excited about them. I was also very specific about wanting palm stems in a glass vase on my dresser. That brass tray is where I’ll display my perfumes. Lastly, I’m not 100% positive if there’s space BUT you know I’m squeezing in this potted olive tree if I can.
I think that’s everything for now!! Once all is ordered, I’ll be doing an update post. I’m pretty set on all of this, but might try to find a dupe for these gorgeous table lamps since we already have some white shades from my old bedroom that I still love! Products linked below ♡
